As you move forward with EHR implementation, one of the most important choices you will have to make is which EHR product is right for you.
The process of making this decision can be time-consuming and confusing, especially if you have little or no experience with medical software. Knowing what questions to ask, what functionality to look for, and how to weigh the experience of others can be daunting.
To help you through this process, to speed your ability to choose the product that suits you best, and to ensure that you feel comfortable with your choice, we have devised an evaluation toolkit.
This simple tool enables you to ask the same questions of all vendors, score the answers to those questions, and then compare the results in an objective way. It includes evaluation forms for both the practice management software and the clinical record.
In addition, contact information for vendors is included, as well as some clinical scenarios that you can ask each vendor to demonstrate. If you choose to ask other users about their experiences (and we hope you do), forms are included to help you do that.
Forms 2 -6 are the actual evaluation forms. You will need to make enough copies of each form depending on how many systems you look at and how many references you consult. And, additional copies of these forms can be sent to you electronically, as needed.
