The VITLAccess Upgrade

By eHealth Specialist Christine Sweeny

On May 24, 2016, VITLAccess Version upgrade was released into production for client use. This release includes several new enhancements and fixes, many of which focus on infrastructure improvements, and will provide VITLAccess users with a better overall performance experience.

The release includes new sort functionality that limits the display of content on the Patient Summary page. To improve load times on the Patient Results, Allergies, and Patient Encounters pages, a new date range filter was added. Specifically, you can now limit the number of results returned based on a specified date range: Last 30 days, Last 3 Months, Last 6 Months, Last Year, and All Records. The default range is Last Year.

The updated VITLAccess User Guide and new Tip Sheet (which replaces the previous Tip Cards) can be found here:

Any questions about the new release can be directed to your eHealth Specialist or VITL Support Services at 1-877-592-4053 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday.

VITLAccess Audits Are Underway

As part of VITLAccess security policies and procedures, VITL has begun auditing consent actions executed during 2015 at client health care organizations (HCOs).  Some details about the audits are as follows:

  • 100% of VITLAccess HCOs that collected consent in 2015 are being audited.
  • The HCO will initially be contacted by VITL to ensure VITL’s contact information for the Local Security Officer (LSO) is correct.
    • The selection of patients is a random sample taken at the individual health care organization (HCO) level.
    • Each sample will focus on up to 20% of consent actions executed at the HCO during 2015.
    • The audit will review consent flags set for patients who either opted in or opted out
    • The HCO is required to upload consent forms to the website which match VITL’s request.
    • The LSO will be provided access to only their HCO’s random sample via access to a secure website.
    • VITL will provide feedback to the HCO regarding any discrepancies and necessary corrective action.
