Project Manager

Job Description: 

Vermont Information Technology Leaders, Inc. (VITL) is seeking a project manager for the successful planning and execution of health information technology, interface deployment and data quality projects related to the Vermont Health Information Exchange.

The project manager is experienced in project management and may be assigned to high risk, complex, enterprise and cross-system projects. The project manager will work with all levels of VITL staff and leadership, external consultants, health care organizations, health service providers, vendors and internal or external users/clients to develop, plan and manage technology projects and their cost, time and scope. The project manager will utilize a structured methodology to plan and implement projects and when required, analyze organizational systems and processes, and make recommendations for operational improvements.

This is a full-time permanent position requiring the following skills:

  • Demonstrated business, technical and clinical knowledge.
  • Advanced understanding and use of the Project Management Institute Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).
  • Excellent leadership, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Superior time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Understands application and business data and workflow.
  • Proficiency with project management software.
  • Proficiency with creating clear, concise presentations for leadership.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Reporting to the team of directors with shared direction from the chief executive officer, the ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or health care related field: a master’s degree is preferred.

The position requires five or more years of experience in large scale, cross-functional project management and system and software development lifecycles, Project Management Professional (PMP) (or equivalent) certification preferred or actively pursuing certification. A Six Sigma Black/Green Belt is preferred.
