Public Health Interface Services

VITL, together with The Vermont Department of Health (VDH) has developed a connection to transmit immunization data to the Vermont Immunization Registry. Physician practices and hospitals enter immunization data directly into their electronic medical record systems. The immunization data is then sent electronically from a patient’s electronic health record to the Vermont Health Information Exchange (VHIE) and then to the Vermont Immunization Registry. This service has been available since February 14, 2013.

The benefits offered from this connection are:

  • Reduced data entry,
  • Improved reporting accuracy,
  • Delivery of data in near real time to the registry,
  • Fulfillment of data reporting requirements,
  • Improved quality of patient care.
