Immunization Interface Technical Notes

The following electronic health record (EHR) systems meet the system and Immunization Registry requirements to connect to the Vermont Health Information Exchange (VHIE) for immunization interfaces.

Allscripts

Allscripts users must upgrade to the version of Allscripts Enterprise or Professional that supports a connection to the Allscripts immunization hub, in order to be eligible to start this project. If you are not sure about the right version ask your vendor. VITL and Allscripts completed the hub connection to the VHIE, and VITL is currently working with Allscripts on testing of the first Allscripts immunization sites.

athenahealth athenahealth has a successful connection with VITL and is capable of connecting additional sites. You must have the athenaClinical product to have an immunization connection.
Cerner Cerner has a successful connection with VITL and is capable of connecting additional hospitals. Cerner and VITL have begun immunization project work for some practice sites. Additional sites will be considered once those sites are live.
CPSI CPSI has a successful connection with VITL and is capable of connecting additional sites.
eClinicalWorks eClinicalWorks has a successful connection with VITL and is capable of connecting additional sites.
eMDs eMDs has a successful connection with VITL and is capable of connecting additional sites.
Epic Epic has a successful connection with VITL and is capable of connecting additional sites.
GE (Centricity) GE has a successful connection with VITL and is capable of connecting additional sites.
Greenway (PrimeSUITE) Greenway has a successful connection with VITL and is capable of connecting additional sites.
LSS (Meditech) VITL is actively working to onboard LSS clients.
Medent Medent has a successful connection with VITL and is capable of connecting additional sites.
Meditech Meditech has a successful connection with VITL and is capable of connecting additional hospitals.
Physician's Computer Company (PCC) PCC has a successful connection with VITL and is capable of connecting additional sites.
McKesson Practice Partner Initial analysis work has begun. Practices will be considered once the vendor is ready.
Siemens Siemens has a successful connection with VITL and is capable of connecting additional hospitals.

 

Systems are not listed if: 

  • VITL has not yet engaged with your vendor.
  • Your vendor does not yet support HL7 messaging for immunizations.
  • VITL is engaged with your vendor and is working on the first connection to VITL..

Other:

  • Technical specifications: Please refer to our specifications site for all currently available VITL interface specifications.
  • Administered immunizations: Are required to be reported to the Immunization Registry when provided to any child or adult, whether they a resident of Vermont or not. – See The Vermont State Statutes
  • Historical immunizations: Historical immunizations can be accepted as long as your vendor can send them.
  • Loading data from the Registry into your EHR: The Immunization Registry can provide batch files for one time historical loads into your EHR. This information usually includes only immunizations performed at your practice. VITL is working toward support of an automated, bi-directional process for this function. Although a timeline has not been established yet for automating the process, planning is underway.
